How does the app work?
Gyaros has a network of special transmitters installed along the signposted route. Each transmitter is located at a point of interest. As soon as your device is within the range of a transmitter, you will receive a notification with audio and visual material related to your current location.
Choose to learn more about things you see around you or phenomena on the other side of the island and continue to discover the identity of Gyaros.

What is Bluetooth Low Energy technology?
It is a version of the classic Bluetooth wireless communication with a longer range, but with significantly lower power consumption. Thanks to the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, your device can communicate with the network of transmitters located on the island.

No, internet access is not required to use the app. If you wish, you can follow the individual links that are provided within the application.
The best thing to do is to download the application onto your mobile phone before you arrive on the island. Phone coverage is very limited on the island and will have difficulty downloading it.
There are very few places on the island where there is adequate mobile phone coverage. For phone calls, it is best not to rely on an available network.
There is no electrical infrastructure on the island. If you need to charge any of your devices, this will only be possible using a power bank that you bring with you.
The content of the app is available in Greek, English and French.
If the application is available on your device, you can change the language in which the content is presented at any time.
The information and content of the application is provided in the form of text, images, videos and sounds. Links are also provided for use when an Internet connection is available.
There is no collection of personal data from users at any stage of the use or operation of the application.
